Kaylan Adair is a Senior Editor at Candlewick Press, where she’s worked for the past fifteen years. She acquires and edits everything from board book originals to YA novels but has a particular passion for MG and YA fiction. Among the novelists she’s worked with are Don Calame, Audrey Coulthurst, Lindsay Eagar, Paula Garner, Jennifer Richard Jacobson, Lisa Jensen, Anne Nesbet, Todd Strasser, and Steve Watkins. She is drawn to characters first and plots second, and loves nothing more than to be caught up in the stories of characters who seem so real, she aches when she finally has to say goodbye.
Simon Boughton joined W.W. Norton & Company in 2018 to develop a new children’s and young adult publishing program, Norton Young Readers. Previously, he was Senior Vice President and Publishing Director at the Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group. Mr. Boughton grew up in England, earned degrees in English from Cambridge University and the History of Art from the University of Essex, and held his first publishing job at London-based Kingfisher books. He moved to the United States in 1986 and worked as an editor at Simon and Schuster Books for Young Readers and, subsequently, Crown Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books. In 1994 he was made Publishing Director of Alfred A. Knopf and Crown Books for Young Readers, where works he published included Philip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” trilogy. He left Random House in 2000 to start Roaring Brook Press, where books he acquired, edited, and published included the Caldecott Medal winners, My Friend Rabbitand The Man Who Walked Between the Towers,Caldecott Honor books by Lane Smith, Printz Medal and Honor books by Marcus Sedgwick, National Book Award finalists by Steve Sheinkin, and others.
Anna Roberto is a senior editor at Feiwel and Friends, an imprint of Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, and works on everything from picture books to young adult novels as well as select nonfiction. She’s the editor of the #1 New York Times bestseller Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year by Demi Lovato, To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo, Words and Your Heart by Kate Jane Neal, A Stitch in Time by Daphne Kalmar, and many more. Her tastes run far and wide, but she especially likes working with debut writers. Anna is a lifelong reader but also enjoys being in nature, rewatching 30 Rock into an inch of its life, and cooking.
Roseanne Wells joined The Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency as an associate agent in 2012. Previously with the Marianne Strong Literary Agency, she has also worked as a proofreader and a special sales/editorial assistant. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with degrees in Literature and Dance. An avid reader, Roseanne discovered her passion for book publishing during her internship at W. W. Norton, and she approaches agenting as a writer’s advocate, editor, and partner. She is a member of SCBWI and a former volunteer for Housing Works Bookstore Cafe in Soho, NYC.
